EURES is a European program designed to facilitate the free movement of workers within the EU member states (plus Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). In practice, EURES provides its services through the European Job Mobility portal and through a human network of around 1.000 EURES advisors who are in daily contact with jobseekers and employers across Europe.

In Luxembourg, the national employment agency (ADEM) is in charge of the EURES coordination at national level, through the National Coordination Office.

The service offer includes:

  • Matching between job offers and candidates at European level;
  • Organisation of jobfairs in Luxembourg and in other EU countries;
  • Information and advice for European citizens who want to work in Luxembourg and /or another EU country;
  • Promotion of the opportunities offered by the mobility.

Visit the EURES web portal to find job vacancies available in Europe.

ADEM also participates in the EURES partnership of the Greater Region which focuses more particularly on cross-border mobility between Luxembourg, Grand Est (France), Saarland (Germany), Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany), East Belgium and Wallonia (Belgium).

EURES targeted mobility schemes

European citizens who want to work in another European country can, depending on their age, benefit from two different European targeted mobility schemes:

Your first EURES job – a tool for mobility

"Your first EURES job - A tool for mobility" is aimed at young Europeans (EU, Iceland, Norway) between 18 and 35 years of age and at SMEs that recruit them.

The financial aid can cover certain costs related to:

  • Travel costs related to job interviews
  • Settling in your new country of residence
  • Language courses related to the mobility project
  • Validation of qualifications and recognition of diplomas

Visit the project website for more information.

Reactivate your career

“Reactivate your career” is a European Union job mobility scheme to help people aged 35 or above to find a job, an internship or an apprenticeship in another EU country.  These jobs and apprenticeships must be for a duration of at least six months (for internships, the duration may be shorter).

Financial assistance is granted to jobseekers who have found a job in an EU country for at least 6 months. The amount of aid varies according to the country of destination.
